Chapters 25 and 26 Summary

In Chapter Twenty-five, Ash begins the story, saying that members of the Taltos race have "residual memories" of the entire race. He lists off traits of the Taltos, including that they hate loud noises and recognize witches by sight and other Taltos by scent. The Taltos "developed" in a secluded area that was a paradise for the race. There were few deaths and those only by accident. There were occasions of "pestilence" that also created problems. He says that even when two Taltos argued and one was killed in the quarrel, it was considered an "accident." Some old ones died in their sleep but it was assumed that they'd received an injury that had taken their lives.
