Summary
In the introduction, “Meet The Mindset,” Douglas Rushkoff describes his experience attending an event on “‘the future of technology’” (1). He was invited to a resort to give a talk on the topic. On the way, he was surprised the resort was located in the desert. Once there, he and a group of tech bros convened around a table. These billionaires from “the tech investing and hedge fund world” wanted Rushkoff to assuage their fears about what they called The Event, a euphemism “for the environmental collapse” (3). Worried that the very technologies they created would soon destroy the planet, they wanted Rushkoff’s guidance in escaping the crisis.
