Chapter 8-9 Summary

Back in Sianim, Ren the Spymaster has a meeting with Lord Kisrah, the Archmage. Lord Kisrah is concerned because there are several important Master Spells missing from the sacred book of the wizards. Lord Kisrah is concerned that without those pages, they will not be able to defeat the Voice of Altis and his army.

Meanwhile, at Winterseine Manor, Lord Winterseine notices that Rialla is holding back in her dancing, not wanting the other girls to look bad. To punish Rialla, Winterseine flogs another dancer, breaking her ribs, and makes Rialla dance perfectly. She dances so well that she arouses Winterseine's son Terran, who insists that he wants Rialla brought to his room after her bath.
