Summary

In Chapter 35, Betsy showed Ellen the strange text Pete had sent her. Neither understood what HLI might mean. Pete had not yet replied.

Meanwhile, the Chinooks carrying the Rangers were in the air. Half were headed to the plateau while the other half went to the factory. As the captain looked at the faces of the soldiers on her helicopter, she knew many, if not all, would not return.

In Pakistan, Betsy showed Ellen a clip of Williams’ news conference in which he told the reporters that Gil was a hero and that the people should not try to sully his reputation or his mother’s reputation. Ellen noted that Williams had a nice voice.
