The Marrow Fair in Alameda is where the majority of the most important plot events take place. It is where Lois explores her skills as a baker/programmer extraordinaire, and it is where Lois uncovers the true nature of the Mazg starter.

General Dexterity

General Dexterity is the company at which Lois works, and the reason she moves to San Francisco. The office is where Lois spends most of her days at the beginning of the novel, and this leads to her discontentment with her life. Eventually, Lois abandons General Dexterity to pursue baking at the Marrow Fair.
