Summary

In Chapter 40, since the tents at the refugee camp were leaking, Beatrice used some of the money Samuel sent her to buy tarps to cover her tent and the tents belonging to her friends. The tarps were considered a luxury item and suggested Beatrice had cash. Someone slashed the back panel of her tent and took everything from inside.
