Chapters 10 through 12 Summary

At Sudi's house the following morning, the girls are surprised to discover that Meri is able to communicate with Sudi's cat. The three of them go to Abdel's house and tell him that they refuse to accept this assignment, but he says that they are the Descendants and can't change fate. They left the restaurant before he was able to fully explain what was expected of them, but they have already accepted their destiny by using their powers of transmutation. He also tells them that they must begin training so they will be able to protect both themselves and their families. He gives them the Book of Thoth, which gives them the power to command the gods of ancient Egypt.

Chapter 11 begins three weeks later. The girls have been going to Abdel's house every day to read the Book of Thoth...
