Summary

In Chapter 24, "Fabulous History," Eva realized Audre and Shane were talking on Cece’s terrace, and interrupted their conversation. She was surprised when Audre said she had invited Shane to their breakfast. Eva and Shane talked about their connection. Shane's phone buzzed. He ignored it because he "was way too happy to deal with it" (272).

In "Sunday," Chapter 25, "DNA Ain't No Joke," Eva and Audre arrived at "Ladurée on West Broadway" (275). Excited about Shane's imminent arrival, "Eva felt so light and heady" (275). While waiting for Shane, Eva and Audre talked. Eva texted Shane, but received no response. When Audre asked why he was so late, Eva "made up a lie on the spot" (279). Audre said she understood. They ordered their food. The more time that passed without word from Shane, the more "Eva spiraled" (282). She regretted trusting him. Afterwards, Audre comforted...
