Summary

In the Prologue, Shane bails Rafe out of jail for the second time in two months. Knowing that he needs to get away, Shane offers to let Rafe tag along on his trip to South America. Rafe considers the option as he thinks of how Ari has avoided him. He believes a trip is what he needs to put her out of his mind.

In Chapter One, two years after the Prologue and her breakup with Rafe, Ari teaches her first college class. At the end of the class, she is surprised to hear him ask her if she will go to dinner with him. She resists even though he seems intent to “woo” her this time. He tells her that the only thing that will keep him from coming to each of her classes and visiting during office hours...
