Chapters 22-23 Summary

Jessie wakes up, but everything seems to be in a daze in Chapter 22. She asks for Katie and Ma and Pa, but is only told to sleep and get better. Finally, Jessie wakes up one morning and feels clear headed. To her surprise, Kate is next to her. Katie tells Jessie that she had seen her in a black box. She had been upset when Jessie fell. Jessie tells Katie it is just a type of picture. Katie also informs Jessie that all the children from school are in the hospital and that the nurses and doctors take care of them. They have not yet seen their parents. Hannah and Andrew come to visit in wheel chairs. They tell Jessie that Abbey and Jefferson died.
