Chapters 16 -18 Summary

Jessie is startled by the boy who tries to pull her into his car in Chapter 16. The young man, Ray, says that they slowed down to pick her up and help her. Jessie has a hard time believing this. She says she is not a hitchhiker (she isn't even sure what that is). Ray continues to persuade Jessie while his friend, Tol, stays in the car. Jessie is becoming more panicked by the minute. She wrestles her hands free from Tol and runs all the way to Waverly, which is the next town over.
