Summary

In Chapter 6, at Dan’s rescue center, Dan takes Annemarie, Anton, Ursula, and Eva to the quarantine barn. Annemarie claps a hand over her mouth because even though the horse is starved and lame, it looks just like Harry. Dan explains he found him in a kill pen at an auction. There was no way to trace who owned him because he was unable to locate a microchip.

Annemarie walks around the pasture to get a better look at the horse. He is terrified and will let no one near him. She cries out when she sees that his right eye is missing. Dan apologizes for not having mentioned that injury. During the ride home, Annemarie keeps reminding herself that the horse she saw was not Harry.
