Guilt

Andi's brother died while she was supposed to be with him. When Andi's father learned of his son's death, he asked Andi over and over where she was when he was placed in danger. Although her father later apologized for these words, Andi takes the words to heart. Andi feels that because she did not guide her brother from danger that his death is her fault. As a result, Andi is filled with guilt that is causing her to suffer depression and to have thoughts of suicide. At the same time, Andi's mother is also suffering from deep depression and Andi feels as though this is also her fault. Andi's entire life has been eclipsed by the guilt she feels for her brother's death although his death was not her fault.
