Summary

Chapter Eight: “I Want My Mommy” opens as Percy, Annabeth, and Grover realize Hebe turned them into children. When leaving does not change them back, they try to complain to Sparky calls for the predators, or rampaging chickens that chase anyone complaining about their ages. Unable to use their powers, the three are forced to run.

In Chapter Nine: “The Chicken’s Draw First Blood,” the friends escape into a play structure and Grover reveals that Hebe’s holy day was the day that hens and roosters would mate. Annabeth says they need to sneak into the henhouse and grab one of the chicks. Grover reluctantly acts as a distraction while Percy trusts Annabeth’s unknown plan and helps her take one of the chicks.
