Summary

In Chapter 22, the narrator, Kelly, The Goon, and Dylan arrived in Paris. Dylan took the narrator to his first event at the American embassy. To avoid being searched on the way in, Dylan told the security guard that the narrator was Ta-Nehisi Coates. The narrator bumped into another African American writer named Mateo and they bonded over the strangeness of their circumstances. They left to get a drink with some other people including Dylan, a famous female African American writer whom the narrator refers to as Not Toni Morrison, and a famous rapper whom the narrator refers to as Victor. Victor and Toni discussed how much better it was living in Europe. Although there was still racism, they felt safer than in America and did not worry that the sound of a car backfiring was a gunshot.
