Chapter 12 Summary

Leslie is crying about the Kirilovs, thinking of bombs hitting Moscow. Both she an d Richard are enraged about Moscow. Richard hears a voice giving him directions, which he follows. They end up in the cockpit of a fighter plane engaged in a dogfight. The pilot is intent on a kill as Richard identifies the markings of Red China on the plane. At first Richard thinks that her alternate Richard Leslie. She takes out the other planes and then her plane is hit.

The dogfight is a training exercise and the pilot, Linda, lands at Shanhai. The pilot is Linda Albright and the exercise is a part of the flight competition.
