Summary

Despite the shower of gifts and adoring Prince Apollo, Evangeline is deeply suspicious of the rapid engagement and enamored Prince. As she continues to think things through, she realizes that Jacks may have placed a love spell on Apollo to make him so obsessed with Evangeline. The more she thinks about it, the more it makes sense, yet she cannot understand why Jacks would want this engagement. Evangeline writes to Jacks and asks to meet him, to undo the love spell placed on Apollo.

The two meet in Capricorn Alley, and Jacks willingly admits that he put a love spell on Apollo. Evangeline is upset, and hurt on Apollo's behalf, but Jacks is unremorseful. He tells Evangeline that he has turned her from a poor orphan into a princess, with a besotted prince, and that she should be grateful. Evangeline threatens to break...
