Summary

Evangeline discovers a note from Luc asking to meet at her Father's curiosity shop, named Maximilian's Curiosities. Though Evangeline does not know if the message is new or old, she sneaks out of the house and to the shop at dawn. To her horror, the shop had been bought by someone else while she was stone, and is now closed. Evangeline pounds on the door, trying to get in, when she is ordered to stop by a patrol officer. On recognizing Evangeline as Valenda's Sweetheart Savior (the nickname given to her by the gossip columns) the patroller compliments her hair, and asks where he may submit an application to court her. This is the first Evangeline has heard of these applications, and realizes that Agnes is taking applications for potential suitors for Evangeline. Disgusted, and realizing the note from Luc is probably old...
