Summary

Part One: 19: The Subtle Art of Diplomacy begins 31 years in the past as Dalinar sits in a feast hall during a highstorm. Gavilar talks to Toh about how the army handles the storms and it is revealed that only four highprinces continue to defy Gavilar. Sadeas convenes with a group of men with uncertain loyalties with intentions of disposing of them in combat should they prove untrustworthy. Dalinar feels useless at the political feast as Toh praises Gavilar for reforging Alethkar. Dalinar heads into the storm and heads to a bunker where he asks Teleb for his knife. After realizing he does not have it, Dalinar heads back to the feast hall after seeing a creature in the distance. Toh dismisses himself and Gavilar says that Dalinar just proved that he is strong enough to protect Toh. Gavilar then reminds Dalinar of the...
