Summary

Part One: 12: Negotiations begins in the present day, Dalinar looks over Urithiru thinking of how the Radiants built the city out of defiance for the storms. Stormfather says Dalinar idolizes them and refuses to tell him why they betrayed the spren and humanity. Kalami arrives and says the emperor is ready to speak to Dalinar. A long title returns by spanreed and it is revealed that the emperor is actually a 15-year-old boy who gained power after the assassin in white killed the previous two. He was supposedly chosen at random and given a fake story to assert a divine mandate. Dalinar invites the emperor on a tour through Urithiru. The response is delayed, and Dalinar imagines the city as a place where men and women wrote. The emperor claimed to control all of Makabak, even though he is only the king of...
