Point of View

Nick and Charlie take turns narrating the novella, so the story is told through both of their perspectives. Charlie starts the novella, and Nick finishes the novella, so they both have an equal amount of space in the novella. Both boys are high school students, so they both have a very naïve and innocent way of looking at the world. They are both also very immature and emotional because of their age, and this impacts the way they view their lives and the way they tell their stories.
