Ode to the Rattler. July 4, 1936. In Ned's latest letter, he mentions a poem written in the senior classroom by Stucky Cybulskis. The girls decide to search for it in hopes that it will reveal something about the Rattler that will help them find out who it was. The girls sneak into the school through a window in the janitor's storeroom. In the classroom, they try to think of a place where the poem might still exist. Abilene finally realizes that it must be in the lid of the desks. They find multiple poems, finally discovering the one mentioned in Ned's letter.
