Summary

Hannah starts relearning how to walk. When Gabby and her nurse Deanna clap for her, Hannah feels proud of herself. Afterwards, when Hannah asks Gabby about Mark, Gabby seems distracted. She admits that Mark has been “very attentive” since the accident (205). He even gave her a diamond necklace. Although Hannah thinks Gabby should go home to him, Gabby stays with Hannah because Mark is working late. Hannah wonders why he does not have his “office manager” do the work instead (206).

While Gabby and Hannah take a walk in the halls, they discuss love and fate. Gabby says she is with Mark because he “is the person life led [her] to” (209).
