Section 14: Chapter 24 & 25 Summary

In Chapter 24, Regan leaves Liam's birthday present, a tiny box, on his treasure chest since he is in the shower when she gets up on Saturday morning, along with a card addressed to "Luna-tic". Mom is discussing the wedding she is planning over the phone when Luna enters and starts singing happy birthday to herself. Knowing this is the next step in her transition, Regan swallows her panic for Luna's sake. Luna looks strong, defiant and absolutely terrified. Mom ignores Luna as Dad asks if this is a joke. Luna explains she is transsexual and wants Mom and Dad's blessing to change her name to Luna, explaining this is who she has always been. She explains that she was supposed to be a girl.
