Section 5: Chapter 8 & 9 Summary

In Chapter 8, Regan notices how handsome Chris is as he jokes with her about wearing her goggles, and this makes her remember Mom noting how handsome Dad was when Regan was younger. Regan finds it difficult to concentrate on the experiment with Chris so close, and she nearly drops the thermometer as Shannon Eiber approaches to flirt with Chris and invite him to a rave on Saturday night in Genesee. Snapping back to reality, Regan realizes that Chris is too cool for her. At home, Liam is closed into his bedroom, listening to Dana International, and the music forces Regan to recall when she heard it and entered Liam's room to find an empty prescription bottle. She begged him to throw up, but he did not take them. He pleaded for her to help him, but she flushed the pills down...
