Book 1: Dawn; Section 4: The Training Floor Summary

In chapter one and two the Humans are put in a part of the ship that looks like the Earth's current state and given tools to see who can adapt. There are many of the people that are speaking out about the Oankali and what they do.

In chapter three Tate, Gabriel, Joseph and some others say that they are building boats and sneaking off. They refuse to believe they are on a ship. Lilith does not want to go with them but agrees to go to be with Joseph.

Lilith and Joseph go to where they are supposed to meet the others but find no one there for a while. After a time several others come out of the forest, having made sure that Lilith was not leading the Oankali to them...
