Book 1: Dawn; Section 3: Nursery Summary

In chapter one Lilith is looking over the information of the possible Humans to awaken for the first group to go to Earth. Lilith slowly goes through the folders and picks out the ones that will make up the first ones that she will slowly awaken. Lilith decides to awaken a woman first, Tate Marah.

Chapter two begins with Tate awakening and Lilith telling her the situation. Tate does not fully believe but seemingly accepts the information that Lilith gives. Lilith is able to operate everything in the room they have been given and can grow the walls, as the Oankali do, but Lilith cannot get out and explains that she is a prisoner just as Tate is. Tate argues that Lilith is more like a trustee.
