Chapter 24-25 Summary

Cole retraces Pike's running route but cannot find anyone who saw Pike running that morning. He knows that Dersh's killer has inside information on the investigation, and that he is actively impersonating Joe Pike. He calls Dolan, who is drunk again, and asks for her help to clear Pike's name. Dolan has been fired from Robbery-Homicide for admitting to Cole that there is a serial killer on the loose, and she is disappointed that Cole has not returned her advances.

Lucy returns to Cole after work, disturbed by all that she has learned of Pike's past. She believes that he may have killed Eugene Dersh, and Cole cannot believe her lack of faith. Meanwhile, the real killer stalks his sixth victim at a nearby park even as he relishes his complete victory over Joe Pike.
