What was the general reaction when GM officials announced that the plant would be closing within two years?

The majority of workers and officials felt the news was not definite because there had been rumors and even brief shutdowns over the years, but the plant always returned to business. Congressman Paul Ryan was initially furious but then felt certain he and others could convince GM to stay or to retool for another kind of vehicle and reopen.
