Summary

Part Three is titled 2010. Chapter 19 is titled “Last Days of Parker Pen.” The author gave a lengthy history of the Parker Pen company, created by George Safford Parker. He began work for a telegraph company and worked as a fountain pen salesman on the side. In 1888, he opened his own company and earned his first patent the following year. The company grew over the years. After Parker's death, the company continued to flourish and took its place in history. Dwight D. Eisenhower used a Parker Pen to sign the treaty of German surrender. When Linda Korban was a high school senior, she and about 20 other girls from her graduating class earned a spot on the Parker Pen assembly line.
