Chapter 11 and Epilogue Summary

Dave returns to New Iberia and has conversations with his boss, Dautrieve, Batist, and Robin. He then goes and talks to Bubba, and spells out Claudette's involvement with Romero. Bubba brushes off Dave's accusations, but Dave also notes that Bubba has recently become involved with the mafia and that Claudette is apparently running many things that Bubba is unaware of. Bubba blusters and balks, but does not attack Dave directly. A few days later Dautrieve calls Dave and tells him that Bubba has publicly beaten Claudette; Dautrieve again suggests Dave remain entirely uninvolved. The next day Dave drives out to Bubba's house. As he approaches the house, he sees one of Bubba's cars streaking away from the house and, in the rear view mirror, sees the car pull into a bar's parking lot. Dave finds the house locked up...
