The Power of Love

Love's power to conquer hatred and evil is a theme that runs through the entire novel. As the novel opens it appears that Jude and Georgia’s nine month old relationship may not last much longer. However, after Craddock makes his first attempt on Jude’s life, Georgia refuses to leave him even though she quickly realizes that her life is also in danger. While Jude has looked at their relationship as temporary – as all of the relationships he’s had since his divorce have been – it quickly becomes obvious that Georgia loves Jude far more deeply than he ever realized.
