Part 3, Delivery, Fall 1993, Chapter 43, Nicholas Summary

Nicholas gathers Paige off the concrete and takes her home, trying to reassure her all the way that Max is going to be fine, despite the fact that they encounter someone wearing a Death costume. At home, Nicholas takes Paige, who is clearly in shock, into the house and strips her clothes away because they are wet and muddy. Nicholas needs to warm Paige, so he takes her upstairs and bathes her as he bathes Max in the bathtub. Paige suddenly comes to life and calls Nicholas' name. Paige climbs from the bathtub into Nicholas' arms and they move together, making love on the bathroom floor. Nicholas takes Paige to bed later and makes love to her again. They make love three times, once for forgiving, once for forgetting, and once for beginning again.
