Summary
Crosley recalls that a series of other prominent people in the publishing industry died at around the same time as Russell. Because being a publicist is a less storied position than being an editor or an agent, Russell did not get a newspaper obituary when other more prominent people did, which angered Crosley. Crosley saw Russell’s partner at the funeral and they hugged. She admits that there are large parts of the story of Russell’s life, including the build up to his death, which she will never know and which are not hers to tell. When the pandemic began in 2020, Crosley found herself wondering whether Russell would have survived it.
