Summary

The next story is titled “The Land I lost” and is set in New York in 2012. Alec Lightwood is in a committed relationship with the warlock Magnus Bane. They live together in an apartment with their adopted son, Max. (This child is named for Alec's brother, Max, who died at an early age.) Alec has been taking a nap when a letter written in fire appears on the wall. The letter is from Jem and Tessa who say they have been trying to help a family in need and believe there is a lead in the Buenos Aires Shadow Market. The Queen of the Market refuses to allow any Shadowhunter in, other than Alec. Alec knows he will go help them immediately. He spends a little time with Magnus and Max.
