Summary

In Chapter 18, Annemarie laughs at Dan when he runs from the room to get Jeremy a bottle as soon as he wakes. When Mutti and Eva arrive, Annemarie notices how bad she looks. Mutti tells her that Eva had a nightmare about her father. When Dan learns what happened he tells Eva to come with him because they have some shopping to do.

Dan and Eva arrive back late that afternoon, Eva is elated as she talks about all the stuff they bought. Dan looks smug. Annemarie chides Dan as she tells him they did not need all those things, but Dan nods toward Eva, who is happy again, and tells her they needed every item they bought.
