Summary

The play takes place at a house in North Carolina, although the text stipulates it could also take place in Virginia, Maryland, or Tennessee. The play was written in the 2020s but the text suggests it can be set at any time “in the four-six decades proceeding the current moment” (14). The play loosely follows the plot of Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

As the play opens, the central character, Juicy, is putting up decorations in the yard outside the house whilst his cousin, Tio, is lying on top of a fold out table watching porn on his phone. Tio asks Juicy whether he think Tio could make a living from an Only Fans account. Juicy complains that Tio is supposed to be helping him decorate the backyard for the wedding. Juicy’s dad died a week earlier and his mom, Tedra, has already married Juicy...
