Teeth

Teeth symbolize death. Flor's premonitions of death always begin with her teeth falling out. This in an adaptation of the real-life theory from that when one has a dream of their teeth falling out, this is a representation of fear or anxiety in their waking life. After Flor's teeth fall out in her dreams, she hears a voice whispering the name of the person who will soon die.

Limes

Limes represent redemption. Despite Mamá Silvia being exiled from the rest of her family, she and Yadi grow a close relationship that lasts for the rest of Mamá Silvia's life.
