Chapters 9 through 13 Summary

In Chapter Nine, Ever is in art class. She notes that she does well in academics because she can touch a book and know what's in it. However, artistic talent "cannot be faked." Damen, however, is very talented. During art class, Damen touches the scar on Ever's forehead though it's hidden behind her bangs and he can't possibly know it's there.

In Chapter Ten, Ever asks Riley for help choosing a sweatshirt and she asks who it is that Ever likes. Ever denies it and is cool to Damen when they meet in the hall. At lunchtime, Damen joins a different table, obviously fitting in without a problem. In class, Damen asks Ever to pass a note to Stacia but Ever refuses.
