Diary

A diary is given by Mrs. Maxwell to Nikki as a gift. The diary’s exterior is made of jean material, and includes a decorated back pocket on the front cover. The diary is given to Nikki instead of an iPhone. Nikki is incredibly annoyed with the diary, and considers it the worst gift ever. She vows never to write in the diary, but the diary soon proves to be her primary outlet when she deals with trying to fit in at her new school while contending with MacKenzie’s bullying. Entries into the diary in the form of words and pictures ultimately make up the entire novel.

iPhone

Nikki desperately wants an iPhone at the beginning of the novel. She believes that an iPhone will make her popular, and at the very least help her to fit in. Having spent all her money on art...
