Summary

Chapter Twelve

The bikers ride across the desert and finally come to a town. Most of the bikers stop at a bar, but the huge biker continues on and stops in front of a small building. He unstraps Chet and the two of them go inside where they are greeted by a woman. As the biker explains how he found the dog in the desert, Chet smells the scent of other dogs. The woman asks the biker if he would like to adopt the dog and says that they only have a three day grace period, but the biker says no and leaves. Chet tries to follow him, but the shelter woman slips a leash on Chet and leads him to a small room where she feeds him. The next three days pass very slowly for Chet.
