Summary

In Chapter 5 the narrator gives more information about the True Knot. It is noted that they work to blend in but that they move around because if they did not people would begin to notice that they did not age like other people. The only thing that differentiates members of the True Knot from other RV people is the fact that they have no dogs. Dogs see through the members of the True Knot and recognize them for what they are.

In May of 2011, when Dan had been sober for ten years and Abra was just turning ten, the True Knot was facing a lack of steam. Steam was the essence that came from psychic children when they died. This steam was particularly nourishing for the True Knot when the children were tortured before they died.
