Summary

In the third chapter, “Disrespect,” 12-year-old Quan felt overwhelmed with life at home, so he went to his rocket-ship. He felt so comfortable that he fell asleep until the middle of the night. He came home and found his mother bruised and bloody, and his siblings crying in the closet. Dwayne was gone, and had taken the EBT card with him, along with all the cash in the house. After five days, when there was no food in the house, Quan went to the store and stole peanut butter and bread. On the seventh day, Dwayne returned with groceries.
