Sex

Sex is an important factor in Dead Until Dark, by Charlaine Harris. Women are being murdered due to the relationships that they have had with vampires. The murderer, Rene Lenier, targets women that remind him of his sister, Cindy. Rene tried to talk sense into his sister when he had discovered she was dating a vampire and that she had allowed the vampire to bite her and drink her blood. Rene becomes enraged and goes mad, killing his sister.

In Bon Temps, more women are being murdered, specifically women that have had sex with vampires, and allowed them to drink their blood.
