Summary

As the residents gossip over the fate of Sportcoat, Sausage, and Deems, Potts and a few other officers arrive at the scene. Potts has the other officers question other residents as he takes Sister Gee aside. He tells her there has been “an incident” (259). Hot Sausage drowned in the harbor and is dead. Sportcoat and Deems are injured and hospitalized, but both will probably live. Potts relates the Sportcoat is still denying shooting Deems the first time, claims there was a woman with a gun who shot himself, Deems, and Beanie, and was severely distressed over Hot Sausage’s death. Potts also says that they have not yet recovered Hot Sausage’s body.
