Summary

Three days after the shooting, Sportcoat goes to see Rufus at the Watch Houses. In the meantime, several women from Church have been helping to care for Pudgy Fingers, including helping him to his program for the blind. Sportcoat feels guilt that they are caring for his son, especially since he cannot find the Christmas club money. Sportcoat tells Pastor Gee that he does not know where Hettie put the money. Pastor Gee is sympathetic, but tells Sportcoat to keep looking.

Rufus doesn’t care much about the Christmas club money, as he is no longer involved in the Church. Rufus had been a founding member of Five Points, even recruiting Hot Sausage to become a deacon before Rufus decided to leave the Church and religion in general.
