Summary

As Part II opens, Xingyin has moved into the army quarters and has begun her career as an army archer. In Chapter 14, she departs on her first mission under the young and handsome Captain Wenzhi. The mission requires her to descend to the mortal realm to fight Xiangliu, a serpent monster that has been terrorizing mortals on Earth.

In Chapter 15, Xingyin enters her first battle where many men and women, including Xingyin, sustain injuries from the serpent’s acidic poison. In her moments of peril, she is only motivated by earning the Crimson Lion Talisman to save her mother.

After the battle, Xingyin and Captain Wenzhi find treasure and a wooden chest in Xiangliu’s lair. Within it is a magical bow, crackling with lightning, what the Celestial’s call “sky fire.” Xingyin touches it and the lightning becomes even stronger...
