Chapter Thirteen Summary

Daemon appears at Cassandra's altar and demands to see Saetan. Saetan arrives and talks to Daemon, who is angry because he is scared for Jaenelle. He tells Saetan that Jaenelle is acting strangely, as if she is not really present inside her own body. Saetan tells him that she must have cast a spell to create a shadow, a fake version of herself that will pass for her but will not be able to hold interesting conversations. This is to fool people so that Jaenelle can be somewhere else doing something else. Daemon is relieved to hear this as it means that there is nothing wrong with Jaenelle, although they are both still worried about where she might be.

When Jaenelle finally does come back, she tells Daemon that she was helping Tersa get out of the Twisted Kingdom in order...
