Chapter Four Summary

A month after Jaenelle's cry for help, she finally visits Saetan again. She is extremely thin and has rope burns and blood on her wrists and ankles. Saetan begs her to live with him rather than go back to the abuse, but Jaenelle says she will not leave the others who need her protection. Saetan does not ask her what is happening.

Lucivar and Daemon have been sent to the same house, serving different witches. Lucivar is still serving Zuultah and Daemon is serving Cornelia. Daemon talks with Lucivar about his hatred for the Queens, and how he is worried that Witch, their one hope, is in danger. He gets called by Cornelia, goes up to her room and unleashes his anger with the black Jewel, killing her.

When Dorothea hears about this she is furious. She knows no other Queens...
