Summary

In Chapter 5, Qibli is disappointed that there are so few weapons at the school. Qibli clearly feels the need for lots of weapons to face Vulture. He remembers his grandfather as a cruel dragon who killed lots of others and had a skull tattoo to mark each death. He does not want to face Vulture but feels he has no choice because of Ostrich. Winter says he is going with Qibli. Qibli worries this is part of Darkstalker's spell, but Winter feels indebted (Qibli helped rescue Winter's brother, Hailstorm). He also believes it will “be funny to be the one annoying your tail for once” (73). Qibli argues, citing his dangerous family. Winter says that indicates Qibli really needs help.
